“I’ve lost my bearings”

Normally, the Net was bright and full of wonder, easily navigated and clear.  Silver flew through the Net, touching upon the banks that contained her holdings, moving money and objects, selling stocks, manipulating the Nikkae.

She was happy.  She and Walker were going to marry in two weeks.  All the preparations had been made.  CAL’s body was working in full.  Pale had the necessary legal tags for being an officiant.  And Alastor got a nice purple dress – well, it was more like armor.  Silver told Walker she didn’t like seeing him in a typical bridesmaid outfit.  Beacon had the tux.

Invitations had been sent out and responded to.  Azzy and the kids were coming.  Vicki and her kids and her newest boyfriend were coming.  They were warned of the dragon, and the antics Walker would pull on them.  The kids were excited.

She was watching the numbers in the Nikkae, manipulating them and having a great time.  She didn’t notice or feel the anti-virus’ first attack.  She looked around, the Net dimming.  She found she couldn’t move.  Then she felt like she was spinning, falling into a void.

She tried to gather herself, but something had gotten deep into her code and was tearing her apart from the inside.  She struggled to keep a hold onto herself, her sense, but she was losing that.  The more she tried to gather code from one part of herself, the more she would lose in another.

The last thing she could sense was Walker’s code, falling into the void.  Then her code was destroyed, re-assimilated into something else entirely.
