Mr. Thompson, I have read your more recent 20 brief, and note that you have invoked the so-called Vigilante 0004 01 Act. However, the person charged is a Hero. 02 MR. THOMPSON: Yes, your honor. However it has been shown in 03 history such as THE PEOPLE vs. AFRICANUS and THE PEOPLE vs. 04 STONELOCHE that in the state of Florida, so-called Heroes are 05 treated as Vigilantes in the eyes of the law. 06 MS. RODRIGUEZ: This does not mean that they can kill with 07 impunity 08 MR. THOMPSON: My client assessed the situation and had only 09 limited tools to work with. 10 THE COURT: What is the defendant's power set? 11 MR. THOMPSON: He exudes acid, your honor. 12 THE COURT: Does he have any control over this power? 13 MR. THOMPSON: Only in intensity. It is through his sweat. 14 THE COURT: I see. According to your brief, Mr. Thompson, 15 you suggest that he be held to a trial by his peers. Since 16 there are no superheroes per say in the state of Florida, you 17 suggest he be remanded to federal custody. 18 MR. THOMPSON: Yes, your honor. 19 THE COURT: I see no reason to deny this request. Have you 20 already petitioned the federal court to release your client on 0005 01 personal recognizance? 02 MR. THOMPSON: As soon as you remand him, I have the petition 03 ready. 04 THE COURT: Do you see any reason to deny this? 05 MS.
